“Freedom allowed Lithuania to dream big, gave us the tools to achieve these dreams, and to build a state that our people wanted to. Today Lithuania is famous for its innovations, laser technologies, life sciences, start-ups. No wonder that the United Nations report in 2024 stated that the happiest young people in the world live in Lithuania. We are humbled to understand that our achievements were possible only because of the peace dividends and stability that the rules-based international order provided us for the last few decades. Today, in a quite dark hour for peace, it is Ukrainians who stand their ground and give hope that freedom will prevail over new form of colonialism, and that peace will prevail over aggression. Supporting Ukraine today is the best investment for sustainable global peace tomorrow,” in his speech said Ambassador of Lithuania Kęstutis Vaškelevičius.
It is symbolic that this year Lithuania and Azerbaijan celebrate the anniversaries of their musical giants. September 2025 marks the 140th anniversary of the birth of the great Azerbaijani composer, creator of the first opera in the East Uzeyir Hacibayli. September also marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of great Lithuanian composer and artists Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. The Concert also started a cultural program that is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Azerbaijan.
The concert in Baku on February 14 was organized in cooperation with the Lithuanian National Philharmonic, the Azerbaijan International Mugham Center, and the “Angelų takais / Trail of Angels” team. Our special thanks goes to National Filharmonic Senior Producer of Concerts Department Danas Skramtai and to writer, artist Adile Efendi.
We thank our partners and friends and Lithuanian community who came to celebrate this important occasion with us.
