Visit of the Klaipėda Port Director General to Azerbaijan, 14-15 October
On 14-15 October, Mr. Algis Latakas, Director General of the Port of Klaipėda, and Ms. Kornelija Butkutė, Legal Adviser to the Port Authority, paid a working visit to Azerbaijan.
The delegation, accompanied by Ambassador K.Vaškelevičius and Minister Counsellor V.Dagilis, met with Dr. Taleh Ziyadov, Director General of the Baku Seaport, Mr. Valeh Alasgerov, Chairman of the Council of the Free Economic Zone of Alat, and visited ASCO, Azerbaijan's Caspian Shipping Company.
During meetings the potential for cooperation between the seaports of Klaipėda and Baku as well as the exchange of experience, including the experience of the Port of Klaipėda in the development of renewable energy sources were discussed. The Director General of the Port of Klaipėda presented the activities, services and their digitalisation with other opportunities of the Port of Klaipėda. The meetings focused on how to exploit the opportunities for cooperation between the ports of Klaipėda and Baku, and the Aliat Economic Zone, in the context of the expansion of the East-West (Middle Corridor) and other transport corridors.
