The name and music of M. K. Čiurlionis resound once again in Azerbaijan
On July 29, the last day of the Gabala Music Festival in Azerbaijan, the Čiurlionis Quartet gave a concert. They performed works by F. Latėnas, M. K. Čiurlionis, as well as J. Brahms and R. Schumann, together with renowned Azerbaijani pianists Farhad Badalbayli and Murad Adigozalzade. This is the quartet's second visit to Azerbaijan this year: in February, during the celebration of Lithuanian Independence Day and the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, their concert in Baku was met with great interest and success.
The 14th Gabala International Music Festival is being held this year in conjunction with the 140th anniversary of the birth of Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli. Organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and supported by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture and other partners, the festival brings together musicians from around the world every year, performing everything from classical to jazz and folk music. This year, the festival also featured artists from Latin America and Georgia.
