The documentary film "Rimas Kurtinaitis. Basketball Is My Life" screening in Baku
The Lithuanian community in Azerbaijan participated in the screening of the documentary movie "Rimas Kurtinaitis. Basketball Is My Life". The festive evening was honored by the presence of Mr. Rimas Kurtinaitis, legendary Lithuanian basketball player, the head coach of the Lithuanian men's national basketball team and the head coach of the Azerbaijan basketball league champion- “Sabah”
The film tells the story of the life of one of Lithuania's most famous basketball legends, , as well as the champion-likw character of Rimas Kurtinaitis.
He contributed to the greatest victories of Kaunas “Žalgiris”, which in 1980s-1990s contributed to shaping the Lithuanian national identity and strengthened Lithuania's quest for independence. Rimas Kurtinaitis won two bronze medals with the Lithuanian national basketball team at the Barcelona and Atlantic Olympic Games, and became Olympic champion in 1988.
As a coach, Rimas Kurtinaitis has even triumphed three times in the European Cup, a feat no other coach has managed to achieve before.
Lithuanians living in Baku are lucky that they can get to know Rimas' cheerful and warm character and feel his love and care for Lithuania.
