Study Opportunities in Lithuania Attract Great Interest from Azerbaijani Youth

On October 24, a networking event between Lithuanian and Azerbaijani higher education institutions took place in Baku, bringing together representatives from thirteen Lithuanian universities, Azerbaijani educational institutions, and young Azerbaijanis interested in study opportunities in Lithuania.

The aim of the event was to present the potential of Lithuanian higher education and its study programs, as well as to strengthen academic ties between the two countries.

In his welcoming remarks, Lithuanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Kęstutis Vaškelevičius emphasized that this event marks an important step in deepening Lithuania–Azerbaijan cooperation in the field of education, strengthening ties between universities and young people, and fostering mutual understanding between the two nations.

“Lithuanian universities offer world-class education with modern infrastructure and laboratories. Students can choose from more than 600 bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs taught in English. A high quality of life, vibrant cultural scene, career opportunities, and Lithuania’s global ranking as the 6th best country for work–life balance are just a few of the factors that make Lithuania an attractive study destination,” the Ambassador noted.

Nijat Asadli, Deputy Director of the Azerbaijan Higher Education Agency, underlined that educational exchanges are one of the key bridges connecting Lithuania and Azerbaijan, contributing to mutual understanding, youth mobility, and knowledge sharing.

During the event, representatives of the Education Exchanges Support Foundation presented Lithuania’s higher education system and scholarship opportunities. Lithuanian universities introduced their institutions and academic fields, while representatives of Azerbaijani educational establishments outlined the priorities of the country’s higher education internationalization.

After the official session, participants joined a networking session to exchange contacts and discuss potential partnerships. The session also provided an excellent opportunity for young Azerbaijanis to speak directly with representatives of Lithuanian higher education institutions, learn more about study opportunities and life in Lithuania, and receive practical advice.

The event was organized by the Education Exchanges Support Foundation and the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Azerbaijan. The presentation of Lithuania’s higher education potential in Baku continues throughout the weekend — Lithuanian universities are also taking part in the two-day “Study in Europe Fair” held in Baku.
