Premiere of the Lithuanian film "Duobėje" in Baku
On 5 February 2025 the premiere of the Lithuanian survival thriller "Duobėje (Fading Whisperers Below)" (directed by Ruslanas Abdulajevas, produced by Eglė Adomavičiūtė) took place at the prestigious Park Cinema in Baku, Azerbaijan. The film, released in Lithuanian cinemas on 6 September 2024, has not only a suspenseful storyline, but also raises fundamental questions about human nature and the survival instinct. At the same time, it is a story of retribution for choices.
"We were very warmly received by the Azerbaijan network cinema, both in Azerbaijan and before we even applied for distribution. Although in Azerbaijan American, Turkish and local films are mainly shown. We are very pleased about that. This film "Duobėje" is a debut on the foreign market and a greeting to Azerbaijan," said E. Adomavičiūtė. After arriving in Baku, their creative tandem with R. Abdulaevas plans to continue with a number of projects here, one international and one related to Azerbaijan.
Lithuanian Ambassador Kęstutis Vaškelevičius welcomed the recognition of the talented Lithuanian filmmakers and expressed his hope that this first step - "saying hello to Azerbaijan" - will open many doors and opportunities for Egle Adomavičiūtė and Ruslan Abdulaev to make films and realise their talent in Azerbaijan. I have no doubt that the work of Egle and Ruslan will bring the people of Lithuania and Azerbaijan even closer together and strengthen cultural cooperation between our countries.
