Phone conversation of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania and Azerbaijan
On 3 September, Kęstutis Budrys, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, held a telephone conversation with Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
On 3 September, Kęstutis Budrys, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, held a phone conversation with Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The ministers discussed bilateral relations between Lithuania and Azerbaijan and the prospects for their development. They agreed to continue active political dialogue and to expand cooperation in areas of mutual importance.
The importance of strengthening partnership within multilateral platforms was also emphasised. Kęstutis Budrys provided an update on Lithuania’s forthcoming Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2027 and the preparatory work. Views were exchanged on closer cooperation during the forthcoming Lithuanian Presidency, with a view to strengthening relations between Azerbaijan and the EU.
The ministers also discussed regional security issues, the peace process in the South Caucasus and initiatives aimed at ensuring long-term peace and stability in the region, as well as other topics of international politics.
