Nordic-Baltic MFA Political Directors visit to Baku

Laimonas Talat-Kelpša, Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Lithuania, visited Baku on 4-5 June. On 4 June together with the Nordic-Baltic colleagues, he met  with Hikmet Hajiyev, Adviser to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, and Yalchin Rafiyev, Deputy Foreign Minister. The meetings focused on strengthening cooperation between the North-Baltic countries and Azerbaijan, EU-Azerbaijan relations, prospects for peace in the South Caucasus, the impact of Russia's war against Ukraine on regional security and the importance of human rights.

During his visit to Baku the Political Director of MFA of Lithuania was accompanied by Mr. Mantas Jakimavičius, MFA Director for Eastern Neighbourhood Policy. In the framework of the bilateral programme, Mr. L. Talat-Kelpša also met with representatives of Azerbaijani civil society, participated in a discussion with foreign policy experts at the AirCentre, met with the Ambassadors of Ukraine and the EU, as well as with diplomats from the EU Delegation.
