Nordic-Baltic Discussion on Women’s Leadership held in Baku

On 20 April 2026, the Nordic-Baltic Embassies, in partnership with Kitabıstan Research Center, hosted a discussion on the role of women’s leadership in addressing global challenges.

The event, titled “The Role of Women’s Leadership in Addressing Global Challenges: Experiences from Azerbaijan and Northern Europe-Baltic Countries,” brought together distinguished experts from the Nordic-Baltic region and Azerbaijan to exchange insights, experiences, and personal perspectives.

The discussion highlighted that women’s leadership is an integral and ever-present part of society; however, its full potential is best realized through mutual support, peer exchange, and increased visibility. Personal stories shared during the event contributed to breaking stereotypes and the “glass ceiling,” encouraging greater participation of women in public and political life.

Participants were welcomed by a video address from the Prime Minister of Lithuania, Inga Ruginienė, who emphasized that empowering women strengthens societies, economies, and resilience. She encouraged women to take a more active role in politics and public life, underlining that women’s voices are essential for sustainable progress in modern societies.

The Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Azerbaijan is proud to be part of this joint Nordic-Baltic initiative, reaffirming its commitment to gender equality, women’s empowerment, and strengthened partnerships with Azerbaijan.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Malak Hajiyeva, the Chairperson of the Board of Kitabıstan, for moderating the discussion, as well as to all panelists and participants for their valuable contributions.
