As of 23 June 2015, fingerprints of persons applying for a Schengen visa will be scanned
As of 23 June 2015, the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Baku is starting to scan fingerprints of persons applying for a Schengen visa.
The Embassy will have to scan fingerprints of every person applying for a Schengen visa, unless he has already submitted them to another Embassy or Consulate of a Schengen State within the last five years.
Persons, submitting their documents for a Schengen visa at the visa center (Demirci Towers, 37 Khojali Avenue, Baku), will also be required to provide their fingerprints.
The requirement to provide fingerprints does not apply for children under the age of 12, persons for whom the collection of fingerprints is physically impossible, Heads of State and members of the national Governments (with their official delegations and spouses) if they travel for official purposes.
The biometric data of the fingerprints will be stored in the information system of Schengen States for five years. Within this period, subsequent submission of fingerprints will not be required.
Otherwise, the current procedures and conditions to receive a Schengen visa (including visa fee, application form) remain unchanged.
The fingerprint biometric data will be collected implementing the Regulation (EC) No 767/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 July 2008 concerning the Visa Information System (VIS) and the exchange of data between Member States on short-stay visas.
