Ambassador visited the National Library of Azerbaijan
On September 26, Ambassador Kęstutis Vaškelevičius visited the National Library of Azerbaijan (named after M.F.Akhundov) and held a meeting with the Director of the Library, professor Kerim Tahirov, as well as with Ms. Fidan Bayramova, the Head of the Department of Partnerships. The Director presented Library‘s activities and international partnerships. Ambassador toured the Library and was presented the literature and music Funds of the Library, as well as rare prints and historical manuscripts, including unique works by Nizami Ganjavi and Muhammad Fuzuli, and others.
The discussion focused on the current cooperation among the Lithuanian and Azerbaijani National libraries, as well as on the opportunities for development of joint projects with the Embassy and holding exhibition in the future.
Ambassador visited the Lithuanian books Stand (Literature corner) located at the Library. K.Vaškelevičius presented to the Library’s Fund the books "History of Lithuania" by Alfonsas Eidintas, Alfredas Bumblauskas, Antanas Kulakauskas, Mindaugas Tamošaitis, covering the period from antiquity to modern times; "Forest of the Gods" by Balys Sruoga (translated in Azerbaijani language by Mahir Gamzayev); and a collection of works entitled "Cultural Ties between Azerbaijan and the Baltics " (editor Mahir Gamzayev).
